What is the Active 20-30 Club of Indianapolis?
The Active 20-30 Club of Indianapolis is part of a national civic organization that raises money for children's charities and actively participates in the distribution of money raised. We are a co-ed club and are one of two Active 20-30 Clubs in Indiana.
What Are the Time Commitments?
We are serious about our commitments, and encourage all members to attend as many meetings and hands-on events as possible. The club's regular meetings generally last about one hour, depending upon the agenda and/or the fun we are having. These meetings and are held twice each month. We strive to have at least one hands-on event each month.
What Are the Financial Commitments?
Annual membership dues of $140 - less than $12 per month. Fines are assessed on a discretionary and light-hearted basis at each general meeting. Money collected for fines is added to the club's benevolent fund. It's all in good fun.
How Often Does the Club Meet?
The club meets the first Wednesday and third Thursday of each month. Our fundraising events and hands-on activities may occasionally require additional planning meetings. We attempt to set our calendar far in advance to help our membership schedule their busy lives.
Does the Club Support Other 20-30 Clubs?
No. We don't even like them. Ok. That's not true, but it made you wonder. Actually, we have great relationships with the other Active 20-30 clubs because of our support of them.
Fort Wayne #700, our nearest neighboring club, has set the bar high by raising tens of thousands of dollars annually for worthwhile, child-oriented charities. Who wouldn't support their good deeds? Oftentimes, our members volunteer for their events, donate money towards their charities, and offer names of potential new members for their clubs, as clubs across the country do in return.
Do We Have Social Events with the Other Active 20-30 Clubs?
We have enjoyed many good times with the other clubs, including happy hours, conventions and parties. We look forward to even more good times in the future. Check out our scrapbook for select memories of some of these good times.
What Committees Does the Club Have?
We have an executive committee comprised of our elected officers. Each of our major events involves planning, and - you guessed it - committees which are put together on a voluntary (draft, when necessary) basis.
Is there an annual fundraising event?
We completed our first annual event, the Half-Pint Challenge. This was in conjunction with the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon in May 2007 and drew twenty-thirtians from around the country. Monopoly Nite, tentitively scheduled for early fall 2008, is a black-tie-optional event featuring live music, food and drink, an auction and - you guessed it - Monopoly! Come get the whole scoop at the next General Meeting.
